Career prospects

PhDs in Earth Sciences at the University of Parma usually find employment at the end of their doctoral studies. Thanks to the broad spectrum and diversification of the PhD program and the solid cultural basis focused transversally on the concept of sustainability, they are able to address problems and conduct basic and applied research on a wide range of topics of great scientific, social and economic relevance (for example, geological, environmental and climate risks, sustainable exploitation of solid and fluid natural resources). This allows them to find career opportunities both in the field of academic research (through post-doctoral fellowships and research grants), and in public bodies (e.g., Technical Services of the public service), and in companies and/or private firms (e.g., Eni S.p.A.), in Italy. Thanks to the experience and contacts developed during the stays abroad carried out as part of the Course, the Research Doctors can find professional opportunities also in the international field.
