Doctoral School in Science and Technology

Deputy Coordinator

Prof.ssa Luciana Mantovani

Associate Professor (GEOS01/A - Mineralogy) at the Department of Chemical, Life, and Environmental Sustainability Sciences at the University of Parma.

Her research focuses on mineralogy, with a particular emphasis on crystallography, structure, and the environmental aspects of various minerals.

Specifically, her main research areas include:

  •    Mineralogy and phase transitions in pyroxenes and spinels (synthesis, characterization, and crystal chemistry).
  •    Geochemical and mineralogical analysis of industrial waste materials, particularly bottom ash from waste-to-energy plants.
  •    Influence of mineralogy on environmental toxicity and pollutant release behavior.
  •    Application of various mineralogical techniques (XRD, Raman spectroscopy, IR, SEM-EDS) and chemical analysis methods (ICP-MS, AAS, etc.) for material characterization.
  •    Application of mineralogy in archaeology and the cultural heritage sector.
