Doctoral School in Science and Technology

Course Units

The training project of the doctoral course includes the following compulsory courses for each doctoral cycle:

1st year:

  • Approaches, methodologies and data analysis in geological research (20 hours). Course that provides doctoral students in Earth Sciences with a common basis of knowledge on the analytical techniques, approaches and data analysis most commonly adopted in geological research. It includes theoretical lessons and laboratory exercises. Verification of the knowledge acquired through a final written test
  • Multidisciplinary geological field (30 hours). Multidisciplinary course that aims to provide doctoral students in Earth Sciences with a common cultural and scientific basis through an experience based on the analysis and cartographic representation of the geology of a territory using the most advanced methodologies and techniques. Verification of the knowledge acquired through a final written test.

2nd year:

  • The Doctorate in Earth Sciences in the world of research (10 hours). The course aims to prepare the doctoral student in Earth Sciences for an activity in the world of scientific research. Through theoretical lessons and exercises, basic and advanced knowledge of bibliographic research, preparation of scientific communications, writing of research projects and scientific articles will be provided. Methods and criteria for evaluating the quality of research will also be illustrated. Verification of the knowledge acquired through a final written test.
