Learning objectives
The module aims to provide the students with fundamentals related to the main issues raised by artificial intelligence in abovementioned criminal matters and by the regulation of cybercrimes.
Course unit content
The module aims to provide an overview of the main problems posed by the impact of artificial intelligence on criminal law and cybercrimes.
One part of the module will therefore be devoted to the use of AI in criminal justice (investigations, decisions, prognosis, etc.) and to the physiognomy of criminal guilt in activities where AI is used, with particular reference to self-driving cars.
Another part of the module will be devoted to the main cybercrimes, from abusive access to a computer system, to computer damage hypotheses, up to computer fraud, with particular regard to the recent reform introduced by Law no. 90/2024.

Teaching methods
Teaching will be provided through in-person lectures. During the lectures, students will be directly involved in the discussion on some of the most important decisions of the recent years. The platform Elly will be used for the publication of research materials and decisions and the lecturer will inform the students about the publication of these materials. The argumentative skills of the students will be developed also through discussions and debates.
Assessment methods and criteria
The final summative assessment, with a mark out of thirty, consists of an oral exam that includes at least three questions.
