Integrated course unit module: Childbirth care, puerperium and neonatology

Learning objectives

The main objective of the course is the acquisition of knowledge and theoretical-practical skills regarding obstetric care in relation to labour, birth and physiological newborns.

- Low Obstetric Risk: BRO
- Eutocic labor and delivery: definition criteria
- Mechanisms of onset of labor: the role of maternal hormones
- Intrinsic and extrinsic factors of childbirth
- Phenomena of childbirth
- Times of labor and delivery
- Assistance during labor, childbirth, afterbirth, postpartum.
- Umbilical cord blood sampling: direct Coombs test, blood gas analysis, cord blood donation
- The physiological newborn: definition criteria
- Assistance for the physiological newborn: identification, neonatal adaptation, Apgar score, skin to skin and bonding support, cord clamping, initial neonatal care, ophthalmic and anti-hemorrhagic prophylaxis.
- Assistance for newborns with difficult adaptation to birth: safety position, thermoregulation control, suction of the upper airways, observation parameters for SUPC prevention
- Compilation of clinical documentation: Cedap and birth certificate
- Birth support courses
