Midwifery graduates who are fully registered on the Professional Register can find employment in public and private, university, hospital and territorial healthcare facilities, obstetrics and/or multi-specialist surgeries. They can also provide home care on a freelance basis.
They can practice in Italy, in the countries of the European Union and in all countries where the equivalence of the qualification is recognised.

Managing obstetrical-gynaecological care needs, requiring preventive, rehabilitative, palliative skills in all areas of gynaecology and obstetrics.

Implementing education interventions for the prevention of women's neoplastic diseases, through information processes and specific methodologies.
Managing women's social and health needs.
Ascertaining clinical manifestations related to the woman's biological-sexual cycle and pregnancy.
Planning, providing and evaluating gynaecological and obstetrical neonatal care.
Monitoring maternal and foetal well-being in pregnancy and labour.
Attending normal childbirth.
Preventing, detecting, monitoring and managing potentially pathological situations requiring medical intervention.

Skills associated with the role:
The degree course in Midwifery provides specific preparation for carrying out obstetrical, neonatal and gynaecological care activities in the field of prevention, care and rehabilitation, particularly in the field of maternal and child health.
At the end of the degree course, the graduate will be able to provide care for normal pregnancy, childbirth and puerperium with professional autonomy, in hospital, at home and in the field. In the presence of pathologies, they will collaborate with other professionals in the processes of diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation. |
