Inorganic Chemistry and in particular the properties of the elements and their most representative compounds

Prerequisites

Kwowledge obtained attending the course of General Chemistry and Organic Chemistry during the first year of the Laurea in Chimica course

Course unit content

The periodic system and the chemical properties of the elements; elements of the s and p blocks; introduction to the chemistry of coordination compounds.

Full programme

Origin of the elements; elements on earth; inorganic systems; nomenclature of inorganic chemistry; elements of blck s and p and their most representative and useful compounds. Metals of block d and f. Coordination compounds of block d metals; crystal field and ligand field theory; steroechemistry of coordination compouds; types of ligands and spectrochemical series.
