Doctoral School in Medicine and Veterinary Medicine

ECTS credits acquisition

The doctoral course provides for the acquisition of 180 credits, including 20 credits of training activities organized in:
Disciplinary and interdisciplinary training activities;
Scientific training activities (research activities)
Credits are acquired through: i) participation in lectures established by the College (disciplinary activity) and interdisciplinary/transversal courses proposed by the Department of Medicine and Surgery and/ or the University (interdisciplinary activity); ii) the development of the doctoral research project by carrying out the necessary technical/practical activities and writing scientific papers and contributions to congresses/meetings; iii) participation in refresher and training courses outside the University; iv) participation in seminars and congresses; iv) carrying out supplementary teaching activities, exercises and tutoring of students of undergraduate and graduate courses.

Lessons
Participation in the lectures proposed by the College is compulsory and takes place in attendance. To facilitate study and research activities outside the University of Parma, a video conference, for remote participation, is organized when requested by the students.

Scheda della Attività Svolte
The Scheda della Attività Svolte lists the training activities (disciplinary teaching of the University’s PhD, multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary), updating (seminars and courses outside the University), participation in congresses and meetings, tutoring of graduate and undergraduated students,  giving lectures/seminars and participation in the examination sessions for the final exam. The tutor assigned by the Collegio, evaluates training and research activity of the student and quantifies, on the Scheda delle Attività Svolte, the obtained CFU. The study/research period abroad is estimated 5 CFU / month. The Scheda della Attività Svolte must be received by the PhD's Collegio before the end of the academic year (October).

Annual scientific report
The student must produce a scientific report specifying the study and research activities carried out during the year and the products obtained (patents, scientific publications, contributions to meetings and congresses). The scientific report must be received the PhD’s College by the end of the academic year (October).
The Scheda della Attività Svolte and the Annual scientific report are discussed by the PhD’s Collegio for the assessment of the year-end and the admission to the following year.

Annual seminar
As a further verification of the knowledge and skills acquired, the student presents in seminar form, in person, the activities carried out during the year, discussing them in a meeting open to the entire College and to all students enrolled in the three-year period. The doctoral students participate and actively contribute to the debate.
