The Master's degree program in History, Criticism, and Languages of the Arts and Performance is based on a consolidated tradition of research and study that overcomes disciplinary divisions. The core subjects of the course are historical-artistic disciplines and the history of performance, cinema, and music. The structure of the courses is designed to reflect the complexity of the expressive forms of both tangible and intangible cultural heritage, from the Middle Ages to the present day, studied through scientifically varied approaches.
The course aims to provide specialized knowledge in medieval, modern, and contemporary art history, iconography and iconology, the history of collecting and museology, the history of art criticism, as well as in the history and criticism of cinema, historiography and music criticism, and theater studies. It encourages a critical approach through the acquisition of a solid historiographical methodology, also including subjects such as aesthetics, information science and documentation, archaeology, and anthropology.
Key moments in the training process also include activities introducing students to the world of work, such as internships or workshops, and participation in conferences that connect students with the challenges and practices of historical research, conservation, curating, and the promotion of cultural heritage.
