Learning objectives
The course aims to provide the ability to carry out the energy diagnosis of the building, through the use of specific software, and to evaluate possible interventions for energy efficiency.
Prerequisites
To follow the course successfully requires basic knowledge of Applied Physics.
Course unit content
Energy analysis of buildings and use of renewable energy sources
Full programme
General information on available energy resources. Energy certification of buildings. National and community legislation. The energy balance of the building: heat losses through walls and transparent closing elements, thermal bridges, heat losses towards the ground, ventilation losses; internal and solar heat gains.
Efficiency of the heating system: generation, distribution, emission, regulation. Renewable energy sources: solar thermal and photovoltaic collectors; heat pump.
Assessement of energy performance through the use of specific software.

Lecture and exercises in the computer room with the use of specific software.
Assessment methods and criteria
The exam consists in the presentation and discussion of a case study of energy diagnosis and requalification.
