Learning objectives
Specific objectives include acquiring adequate preparation and competence specifically related to respiratory discipline, through educational and practical activities focused on the topic of respiratory physiopathology.
Prerequisites
Anatomy and Physiology of the respiratory system.
Course unit content
Objective examination of the lungs and respiratory symptoms. Obstructive diseases (asthma, emphysema, chronic bronchitis) definition, pathogenesis, clinical presentation, diagnosis, and prognosis. Restrictive diseases (pulmonary fibrosis) definition, pathogenesis, clinical presentation, diagnosis, and prognosis. Execution and clinical relevance of global spirometry, diffusing capacity of the lung for carbon monoxide test, reversibility test, methacholine test, and exercise tolerance testing.
