Learning objectives
The Bachelor of Technical Sciences Applied Medical is part of the integrated course of Audio-prothesis V and aims to enable the student to know and understand the biophysics element of cochlear stimulation, the type of implant and the fitting parameters. The student must acquire the ability to use knowledge and understanding in formulating a correct interpretation of auditory response after stimulation as well as the problematics encountered for apply the best solution for the patient. At the end of the course the student will be able to map a cochlear implant and perform intraoperative telemetry tests. The main objective remains that of choosing the best acoustic adaptation for the correct recovery of hearing loss.

Course unit content
The oral course, will consider the biophysics of extracellular stimulation for cochlear implant. In particular the student will consider the type of cochlear implant and the related stimulation for analyzing the best approach for cochlear implant The characteristics and therapeutic techniques of tinnitus will be explained. Particular importance will be given to identifying the best fitting strategy in hearing aids and methods of adaptation. You will learn how to map a cochlear implant and study case reports.

Teaching methods
Lectures will be held on-site in compliance with safety standards, provided that further instructions on the ongoing health emergency are not implemented. Supporting material will be available on the specific, student-reserved platform (Elly) and will include slide presentations, audio-video aids or video-recording of the lectures.
Assessment methods and criteria
Oral examination. The student must demonstrate that they have learned the biophysics of extracellular stimulation and the cochlear implant types, hearing aids and their functionality. The student should be able, in the face of a simulation instrumental to interpret with sufficient accuracy as proposed.
In case of the persistence of the health emergency, the exams will be conducted remotely, as follows:
remote oral questions, through the Teams platform (guide http://selma.unipr.it/).
