Learning objectives
1. Getting to know the modern idea of palliative care: In oncology and chronicity, in advanced stages of illness, to improve quality of life 2. To know the possible applications of palliative care in Italian social and health contexts (hospice, hospital, territory) 3. To know the main symptoms and needs of patients in palliative care in order to be able to identify them at an early stage. The early palliative care 4. To know the importance of communication between professional, patient, family and care team in palliative care: the family meeting 5. To know the "CORE" competencies of the palliative care nurse 6. To know the relationship between clinical, education and research in palliative care.

1. Introduction to palliative care. Meaning and definition of palliative care. Territorial organisation of palliative care in Italy 2. How to identify palliative care needs: oncological and non-oncological palliative care 3. Main physical, psychological, spiritual and existential needs of the person in palliative care 4. The professional/patient/family relationship: communication of the diagnosis, the accompanying relationship, the family meeting 5. The training of professionals and skills in palliative care
