Doctoral School in Medicine and Veterinary Medicine

ECTS credits acquisition

The course lasts three years. It requires the completion of an original research work, as well as the fulfillment of a complementary capacity development program. Considering that in the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS), 60 ECTS credits are equivalent to a full year of study or work, doctoral students are required to obtain 180 ECTS.
Following the resolution of the Doctoral Council, it was established that 1 ECTS credit (in short, ECTS) can be obtained by attending 6 hours of lectures or 1 day of national/international schools/workshops. For research activity, one ECTS corresponds to 25 hours of work (approximately 6 ECTS per month of full-time work). Doctoral students are required to undertake an original research project, promoted by their supervisor and attested by publication in peer-reviewed scientific journals. Furthermore, they are required to attend academic activities for a total of 24 ECTS in three years.
