Career prospects
The privileged occupational outlet of the PhD in Psychology is scientific research, intervention and evaluation of the effectiveness of intervention in the psychological field in social, clinical, educational, health and organisational contexts.
PhDs in Psychology will be able to:
- adopt complex and up-to-date frameworks for understanding psychological processes that are consistent with and appropriate to the specific field of research and intervention;
- select and develop appropriate and innovative methods of data collection and analysis for specific scientific researches (qualitative, quantitative or mixed methods; cross-sectional and longitudinal research designs);
- interpret and critically discuss the research findings consistently with the body of literature on the topic;
- disseminate the new research knowledge and the validated methodologies in the international scientific community;
- implement an appropriate transfer of the research knowledge and the validated methodologies in public and private institutions, companies and research centres.
The skills developed during the three years of higher education may orient the professional, in addition to a university career, towards public or private research institutions, towards educational or clinical sectors in public administration, or towards companies or cooperatives offering services to individuals or organisations.
