Research topics
The research topics of the neuroscience groups at the University of Parma range from studying the neurobiological foundations of social and emotional cognition to the neurophysiology of movement and perception. These investigations employ techniques spanning from single-cell neurophysiology and neuroanatomy in animal models (non-human primates) to non-invasive methods such as fMRI, EEG, and TMS in the human brain.
Behavioral studies serve as a unifying and distinctive element across both animal model research (neuroethology) and studies involving human subjects and patients (clinical neuropsychology). These studies guide the analysis of brain-behavior interactions and their potential applications in rehabilitation and technology. They offer new insights into understanding brain function under both normal and pathological conditions.
