Organisation

The PhD of Psychology is a three-year programme.

The first year is dedicated to the in-depth study of a specific research topic, the identification of appropriate study methodologies and the conduct of a literature review; the second year is devoted to in-depth methodological study, research project design, data collection and analysis; the third year is aimed at systematisation, analysis and drafting of the final paper.

Within the limits agreed upon by the PhD Committee, the doctoral programme allows and encourages doctoral students to carry out teaching and tutoring activities that are related to their research topics. Within the doctoral training proposal there are both specific activities for each year and some transversal activities, disciplinary, interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary seminars.

In particular, the PhD programme includes these activities:

• Methodological seminars
• Seminars and workshops on soft skills and ethics for scientific research
• Study and research experience abroad and in public and private organisations/institutions/research centres
• Participation in national/international scientific congresses, workshops and methodology schools
• Seminars and training activities independently identified by the PhD students under the supervision of the PhD Committee

Each year, each doctoral student is required to draft a sheet describing the training, research projects and third mission activities that he or she has carried out and to document his or her scientific productivity. This sheet is also useful for the monitoring and evaluating of the activities carried out by the PhD Committee

The PhD programme involves discussion at various levels and in-progress meetings for comparison and verification with the entire doctoral college. Over the three years the progress of each PhD student is monitored by the tutor and by the PhD Committee through numerous meetings.
