Prerequisites
Course unit content
The student should acquire the pathophysiology of the following forms of cancer: breast, ginecologic tumors, lung, colon rectal cancer
Full programme
The student must understand the biological, molecular, and cellular bases that have a clinical impact on oncological diseases, particularly the mechanisms of oncogenesis control and neoplastic growth.
The student must understand the pathophysiological bases of the following neoplasms: breast, lung, colorectal, and gynecological neoplasms.
The student must learn the basic concepts for the diagnosis and treatment of oncological diseases and be able to interpret survival curves.
The student must be aware of the main specific symptoms of neoplastic diseases.
The student must understand the principles of therapy for oncological diseases and the clinical effects of the therapeutic approaches used:
- Chemotherapy
- Targeted therapies
- Immunotherapy
- Radiotherapy
- Supportive therapy.

Teaching methods
The course will be held through lectures to Students in the classroom (“in presenza”). Therefore, the opportunity of Student/Teacher interaction will be preserved face to face.
Lectures will be supported by slide presentations, which will be available to students on the Elly platform (https://elly2024.medicina.unipr.it/).
Assessment methods and criteria
Oral examination or multiple choice test.
In case of the persistence of the health emergency, the exams will be conducted remotely, as follows:
remote oral questions, through the Teams platform (guide http://selma.unipr.it/).
