Conduct of the final examination
In order to take the Final Graduation Examination, the student must have acquired the 176 ECTS credits laid down in the academic regulations ten working days before the date of graduation. The Final Examination consists of a 100-hour commitment linked to the writing of a written report on a topic chosen from among those in the various geological fields and countersigned by a professor/instructor, who acts as supervisor. The final examination may be linked to an internship carried out within the university or at other public and private facilities.
At least 10 days prior to the 'proclamation' of graduation, the student must present and discuss ('presentation') the Final Examination before a committee specifically designated by the Course President. The Commission verifies the candidate's basic geological background in relation to the thesis project, evaluates the candidate's university career and the Final Examination.
FIRST-CYCLE DEGREE STUDENTS ARE NOT REQUIRED TO UPLOAD THEIR DISSERTATION AND THE LAST EXAMINATION MUST BE RECORDED AT LEAST 10 DAYS BEFORE THE GRADUATION SESSION.
The written paper (in its final text), concerning the Final Examination, must be sent in electronic form to the Course President Prof. alessandro.chelli@unipr.it 7 days before the aforementioned 'presentation' .
There are three graduation sessions per academic year, known as summer, autumn and extraordinary sessions, the dates of which are decided by the Course Council and published on the Degree Course website.
The proclamation takes place in public session in the presence of a Commission of at least five professors specifically appointed by the Director of the Department on the proposal of the Course President.
The degree mark is expressed out of 110 and is derived from the weighted average of the marks obtained in all examinations that have been graded in thirtieths, thus also including the student's elective course units. The weight of each grade is the number of ECTS credits of the course to which it relates. Three points are added to this average for students graduating within prescribed time for course completion. The Commission may also award up to a maximum of 7 points for the Final Examination. In accordance with the University's Regulations, if the final examination is not passed, the title is not awarded.

The special mention at graduation for the service offered to support the functioning of the University bodies appears only on the degree certificate (on tax stamps) that the student may request from the Student Registry Office, while it will not appear on the one that the student can download directly from ESSE3.
