Learning objectives

Understanding of echocardiographic images and main rhythm disturbances. Knowledge of the diagnosis and treatment of the main congenital heart diseases of dogs and cats.

Course unit content

The course is focused on small animals cardiology. The topics will be: 1 cardiac embriology; 2- main congenital heart diseases of dogs and cats; 3- basics of ECG; 4- basics od echicardiography. Students will rotate at the cardiology service of the OVUD. The aim of the practical part is acquire the competence to perform a cardiovascular physsica examination and understand the standard echocardiographic view and echo-Doppler exam.

Full programme

Cardiac embriology;Standard echocardiographic views and echo-Doppler; principles of electrocardiography; Patent ductus arteriosus; interventricular septal defect; Aortic and pulmonic stenosis.
