Learning objectives
Provide a methodological and cognitive framework useful for addressing the assessment of dangers and consequent risks in the world of work in general and in that of chemical laboratories in particular both on the basis of good technique and existing legislation
Prerequisites
Solid foundation in chemical disciplines. Each student must have complied with the obligation of training on safety in the workplace as established by Legislative Decree 81/08
Course unit content
Critical reading of the chemical aspects contained in D.Lgs 152/2006 and subsequent amendments, D.Lgs 81/2008 and subsequent amendments. D.Lgs 105/2015.
Recalls on classification, labeling, and packaging (CLP) of chemical agents. Safety data sheets. Hazard classes. Physical risks in chemical laboratories and reduction of the danger associated with them. Operational models for chemical risk assessment. Management of hazardous waste and atmospheric emissions of volatile organic compounds.

1- Critical reading of the chemical aspects contained in D.Lgs. 81/2008 and subsequent amendments. and basic definitions.
2- Inquiries on classification, labeling and packaging (CLP) of chemical agents. Reading safety data sheets. Threshold limit values. Hazard classes.
3- Reduction of danger. Collective and individual protective devices. Safety signs.
4- Physical risks in chemical laboratories. Fires and fire prevention measures. Fire extinguishers and fire classes. Explosions. Gas compression. Cryogenic liquids.
5- Risk assessment. DVR. Operational models for chemical risk assessment (MoVaRisCh, ISPRA)
6- Critical reading of the chemical aspects contained in D.Lgs. 105/2015. Relevant accidents. Establishment classification.
7- Critical reading of the chemical aspects contained in D.Lgs. 152/2006 and subsequent amendments. Waste management. Hazardous waste. Remediate polluted sites. Emissions of volatile organic compounds into the atmosphere.

Teaching methods
24 h of frontal lectures
The teaching activities will be conducted through lectures accompanied by the projection of slides, together online material. The slides used to support the lessons will be loaded at the beginning of the course on the Elly platform. To download the slides it is necessary to register for the online course. The slides are considered an integral part of the teaching material. Non-attending students are reminded to check the available teaching materials and the indications provided by the teacher through the Elly platform.
Assessment methods and criteria
Written exam consisting of 22 closed-ended questions; 1.5 points are awarded to each correct answer, while 0.5 points are awarded for each blank answer.
Honors will be assigned for scores higher than 30/30.
