Learning objectives
The student must acquire the ability to observe and manage the patient in the preoperative phase (consent, preparation for surgery, health education) and in the postoperative phase (therapy, pain, bleeding risk, mobilization, nutrition, health education..)
Prerequisites
Attendance at the integrated courses of Medical Clinic and Surgical Clinic of the 1st semester
Course unit content
Assistance to the surgical patient in the pre- and post-operative period. Elective and urgent interventions. Laparotomy and laparoscopic surgeries.
Full programme
Elective and emergency surgeries. Patient preparation. Pre-admission in elective surgeries. Laparoscopy and laparotomy surgeries.
The management of the post-intervention phase.
Proposal of surgical cases with simulation on a mannequin: management of devices, infusion routes and therapy, drainage, pain. Procedures (e.g. dressing) Nursing diagnoses. The debriefing in plenary.

Theoretical/practical laboratories with the use of a manikin for the simulation of clinical cases in the post-surgery phase.
