Integrated course unit module: NURSING AND OBSTETRICS MANAGEMENT

Learning objectives

Acquisition of knowledge and understanding skills related to intra and intergroup dynamics. Acquisition of the ability to read the conflicting dynamics in the context in which they are needed. Acquisition of the ability to identify and apply conflic intervention strategies.

Course unit content

The course aims to help the manager to identify the psychosocial elements and processes on which professional groups work. Some models will be introduced that allow a psychosocial analysis: a) of the relationships within and between groups, b) of communication and of the dynamics of social influence, c) of the causes of conflicts and of the possible ways of their resolution. The conceptual knowledge provided will be strengthened through interactive activities.

The working groups: elements of differentiation and coordination.
The role of identity dynamics and intergroup relations in the organization and in work groups.
Social influence processes.
The conflict in the organizational dynamics, the definition of conflict and its value, the different types of conflict.
The consequences of a mismanagement of the conflict on motivation and organization climate.
Report and Content: understand and manage two different aspects of a conflict situation.
Address or avoid conflict? Knowing how to prevent it: when and why?
Signals of a negative conflict. How to facilitate a constructive conflict?
mplement interpersonal communication and relational skills: from confrontation to collaboration.
The personal development plan: what to do to strengthen one's abilities to face and manage conflict situations?

Teaching methods

The course is held with lectures, interactions with students and group work.
Lectures will be held on-site in compliance with safety standards. Supporting material will be available on the specific, student-reserved platform (Elly) and will include slide presentations and other supporting materials.

Assessment methods and criteria

The exam includes an oral test aimed at assessing the knowledge and skills acquired. The test consists of three questions. Answer will be evaluated on the following criteria:
28-30 = correctness and completeness of the concepts exposed
24-27 = correctness of the concepts exposed, the language is not completely precise
21-23 = the concepts exposed are not completely correct, the language used to expose the concepts is not precise and detailed
18-21 = answers are dealt with in a non-detailed and precise manner. It presents gaps in the topic addressed
Not sufficient = answers are not given, are not completely precise and relevant, and present some errors; the language used to expose the concepts is not very understandable.
