Why in Parma?
Starting from the 2023-2024 academic year, after obtaining the degree in Veterinary Medicine you will be licensed and entitled to register with the chamber of Veterinary Practitioners, that gives you the authority to practice the profession. Since this is a course that has a limited number of students that can enrol in the first year, you will have the opportunity to establish close relationships with the teachers and to carry out all the activities in a less dispersive context.
You will be able to carry out practical clinical training at the Veterinary Teaching Hospital, which is open to the public 24 hours/, 7 days/week. In addition to the usual assistance for pets and livestock, a hospital service has recently been activated that deals with the care and study of exotic animals.
You will also have the opportunity to participate in numerous educational visits to farms and food industries in the Parma province and beyond. Your teachers are also respected professionals in their fields and thanks to them you will be able to put into practice knowledge acquired in the classroom and have an easier time entering the veterinary profession.

After graduation
After graduation, you can choose to enrol in one of the two specialization schools that are offered, one in Food Safety and Quality and the other in Animal Health and Production. The title of National Specialist is necessary for entering into the National Health Service. There are also interesting doctoral and other post-graduate courses available.
Most graduating veterinarians will go into companion animals practice, which is the same as in many countries. The region of Parma, however, is one of the leading areas for food-producing animals and there are many opportunities to become a large animal veterinarian. There are also widespread opportunities to enter into the food industry or the field of pharmaceuticals.
