A long-standing course (biotechnology arrived at our University as early as 1999), designed jointly with companies in the sector to give you all the theoretical and practical bases of this modern and dynamic field of study, which ranges between biology and chemistry, economics and statistics.
A multidisciplinary approach allowing you to customise your study plan, choosing the preferred specialisation fields: industrial, health, veterinary, agricultural.
Laboratory experience and the 350-hour internship for all students at university laboratories, companies and external organisations, or even abroad, will enable you to gain professional and technical skills that can be used in the world of work and research.
For the five-year period 2023-2027 the Department will receive extra funding to launch new innovation challenges also in the field of biotechnology. You will leave with a preparation that is highly valued by companies and external bodies, which can already verify this during the training placements. Our lecturers will always be there to assist you in your career prospects.

Access by TOLC or chronological order of enrolment with merit valorisation through secondary school leaving grade (110 places of which 2 are reserved to non EU student and 1 to the Marco Polo project).

After graduation
The three-year course in Biotechnology aims to equip professionals with the necessary skills to produce goods and services through the analysis and use of biological systems both for application purposes and the implementation of new methodologies.
Biotechnology graduates can find employment in various fields: industrial, agricultural, environmental, pharmaceutical, health, scientific communication, in a role involving the performance of experimental activities under the supervision of a supervisor. In addition, three-year Biotechnology graduates can acquire the title of junior biologist by passing the state exam that allows them to register in section B of the Register of Biologists.
You may also continue your studies with one of the master's degrees offered by our university in the biotechnology and biology classes, with courses ranging from genomic, molecular and industrial biotechnologies to medical, veterinary and pharmaceutical biotechnologies, from biomolecular, genomic and cellular sciences to translational biomedical sciences.
Finally, you can complete your journey with a PhD in Biotechnology and Biosciences.
