Career prospects
The PhD provides the necessary skills to carry out qualified research in public and private entities, as well as for liberal professions. This contributes to the realisation of the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) and the European Research Area (ERA).
In line with ISTAT profiles, the doctorate confers eligibility for the professions in Group 2, categorised as intellectual, scientific and highly specialised, i.e. roles that demand a sophisticated theoretical grasp to analyse and represent complex situations and problems in specific disciplinary domains, formulate viable solutions and make pertinent decisions. These roles include: 2.5 - Specialists in human, social, artistic and management sciences; 2.6 - Specialists in education and research.
The scientific and professional competencies obtained during the programme are applicable to a variety of career opportunities, including research roles within academic institutions, public and private facilities and research centers. These competencies facilitate access to public selections for the award of scholarships, research contracts and grants, and positions within research organisations. Additionally, these skills are transferable to roles within public administrations and bodies, as well as highly qualified and innovative professions in private companies, entrepreneurships and consultancy activities; at university, in highly specialised business fields and in school education, where it is a privileged qualification for access to competitive examinations and for inclusion in teacher rank lists, in particular:
- the curriculum in Philosophy provides access to the academic and educational world, the cultural industry and the advanced tertiary sector, with design, research and consultancy tasks, including public relations, enhancing the interdisciplinary vocation of philosophy, its critical and argumentative abilities
- the curriculum in Social and Anthropological Sciences is geared towards the training of highly specialised individuals for positions of responsibility in research, the public and social sectors, cultural mediation, organisational consultancy, planning of local and international cooperation activities, and in the conservation and promotion of cultural and environmental heritage
- the curriculum in Educational Sciences aims to train students for research in the academic field and in the bodies responsible for evaluating and monitoring the school system and the various educational contexts. It also prepares students for the most modern practices of research-action and research-training, for the activity of project manager in the management of educational services, for the activity of trainer in the field of didactics, also at university level, and for the field of human resources in the corporate sector
- the Art History, Music and Performing Arts curriculum is designed to equip students with the skills to excel in the study, protection, valorisation and promotion of both tangible and intangible cultural heritage. Graduates are well-positioned for careers in academic and training environments, public administration, cultural institutions and private foundations, enterprises and the creative and cultural industry.
