Corso di Orthoptic and ophtalmologic assistance - Università degli Studi di Parma
A course with a long and established tradition at national level, based in a city at the top of the league tables for quality of living.
Practical and training activities are carried out at the Unità Operativa Complessa di Oculistica (Ophthalmology Operating Unit) of the Azienda Ospedaliero-Universitaria di Parma, where all branches of modern clinical and surgical ophthalmology are practised, with cutting-edge or quite simply innovative equipment and technology.
The course is aimed at providing the basis for understanding the biological and physiological phenomena related to vision, the principles of diagnosis and treatment of ocular motility and binocular vision disorders, methods for the re-education of visual function impairment, and the instrumental examinations indicated for licensing or for the most common eye diseases.
The course also includes attendance at specialised affiliated facilities such as the 'Cardinal Ferrari' rehabilitation centre in Fontanellato (PR) and the Parma branch of the Italian Union of the Blind and Visually Impaired. Students will also attend the school screening programme for amblyopia carried out by dedicated personnel.
