Learning objectives
The aim of the training is the knowledge and the differential diagnosis of the main diseases of the oral cavity and maxillofacial region. The student will directly perform incisional and excisional biopsies under the guidance of expert tutors
Prerequisites
-Knowledge of the anatomy, physiology, and histology of the head and neck region
-Knowledge of the pathologies of the head and neck region and their differential diagnosis
-Knowledge of the blood and instrumental tests relevant for the diagnosis of lesions and pathologies of the head and neck region
- Knowledge of the main drugs to be prescribed for the treatment of oral lesions and head and neck region

-Patient examinations and discussion of clinical cases
- Training in performing incisional and excisional biopsies of oral lesions
- Compilation of medical records and photographs of oral diseases
-Training in performing oral and pharyngeal swabs

Teaching methods
Lectures will be given directly to the students and/or held on-site in compliance with safety standards, provided that further instructions on the ongoing health emergency are not implemented. Supporting material will be available on the specific, student-reserved platform (Elly) and will include slide presentations, audio-video aids or video-recording of the lectures.
Assessment methods and criteria
- Presentation of clinical cases and participation in working classes
- Evaluation of participation in clinical internships through recording student attendance as well as the execution of biopsy procedures in student records
