Learning objectives
The health promotion course is included in the main topic of HEALTH AND CARE MANAGEMENT OF CHRONICAL DISEASES, focusing on professional formation on work and live security environment with particular focus on basic, translational and clinical research modality. The course aims to share knowledge with the students about health promotion targeting mainly cardiovascular diseases. Moreover, the course aims to provide the methods and the autonomic learning ability together with their professional activity and specific communication skills.

Course unit content
Students will acquire knowledge about health prevention and promotion with a special focus on chronic cardiovascular diseases.
The first part of the course relies on a general description of health promotion and education, following the general guidelines expressed in the 1st international conference on Health Promotion (Ottawa 1986).
The second part of the course will describe the common cardiovascular diseases such as hypertension, myocardial hypertrophy, heart failure and infarction, the risk factors (nutrition, pollution) and preventive modalities for the person and the community following national and regional plans together with example of applied research methods.

Teaching methods
Lectures will be held on-site in compliance with safety standards, provided that further instructions on the ongoing health emergency are not implemented. Supporting material will be available on the specific, student-reserved platform and will include slide presentations, audio-video aids or video-recording of the lectures.
Assessment methods and criteria
Written exam (either in the classroom or online via Teams platform). The student needs to demonstrate knowledge about the mitigation of the risk factors for reducing the impact of the common social diseases with particular emphasis on cardiovascular diseases, as well as the modality of health promotions.
