Thesis/Final examination

In order to be admitted to the final examination, the student must have obtained 171 ECTS credits, including those required for knowledge of the foreign language (English). The degree in Prevention Technologies in the Environment and Workplace is obtained by passing a final examination consisting of the writing and discussion of a paper and the demonstration of skills related to professional practice. The final examination has the value of a State examination, qualifying successful candidates to practise professionally; it is held in two sessions at the times and according to the conditions defined in the specific decree of the Ministry of Universities and Scientific and Technological Research, in agreement with the Ministry of Health, before a Committee set up pursuant to art. 7, paragraph 4, Ministerial Decree of 19 February 2009. The President appoints a  Corapporteur from among the members of the Committee for each of the candidates, normally at least one month before the presentation of the paper. The co-rapporteur introduces the discussion at the end of the candidate's presentation.
The student has at their disposal a total of 5 ECTS credits established by the course catalogue, as specified in the teaching design, to devote to educational activities in preparation for the Final Examination. ECTS credits will be acquired by the student following a declaration of eligibility by a internship professor/instructor or supervisor.

Characteristics of the final examination

The final examination consists of the demonstration of professional skills (practical test) and the discussion of a written dissertation (thesis). The test is taken in front of a Committee appointed by the Rector, normally composed of a number of members varying from 7 to 11 (of which not less than 2 are indicated by the Professional Order), identified by a specific decree of the Ministry of Universities, in agreement with the Ministry of Health.
The following all contribute to determining the degree grade: the arithmetic mean of the exam marks, the assessment of the final exam (practical test and thesis dissertation), the length of the career (whether the student is graduating within the prescribed time or not). The mark awarded is out of 110; the most deserving candidates may be awarded a mark of 110 with lode by unanimous decision of the Committee. Students must score at least 66/110 to pass the final exam.
Graduates of the Prevention Technologies in the Environment and Workplaces course can enter the specialisation degree course on Prevention Health Disciplines without any training gaps.
