Learning objectives
The aim of the course is to equip the student with a broad view of inflammatory and degenerative rheumatic tissue diseases. The purpose is
to provide the basic knowledge for the diagnosis (clinical, laboratory and imaging) and treatment. Further aims of the course are to help the student in distinguishing a mechanic or inflammatory pain and to provide short notes on the treatment of rheumatic diseases, including drugs, physical therapies and rehabilitation

Course unit content
The term “rheumatic diseases” encompass a large number of pathologic conditions characterized by pain and musculo-skeletal involvement. Rheumatic diseases are very heterogeneous, including inflammatory or degenerative, inherited or acquired, mechanic or immune-mediated conditions. Regardless their tipology, when untreated, rheumatic diseases can become progressive and lead to an impairment of quality of life and work ability
