Integrated course unit module: Italian Sign Language (LIS) II

Learning objectives

The student - knows advanced elements (lexico-grammatical) of Italian sign language, with references to regional varieties - is able to use them in medium-complex communicative situations; knows translation and interpretative aspects between signed languages ​​and vocal languages.
During the course, according to the Dublin descriptors, you learn to
– theoretically know the cherological and morphosyntactic level of the language;
– carry out textual analysis exercises;
– independently analyze translation aspects;
– explain specialist terminology with clarity of expression;
– be able to contrastively apply theoretical and practical knowledge in the study of sign language.
In the practical part, a review of the A1 level of language acquisition will be proposed, the presentation of oneself, the family, one's home, hobbies and daily occupations, relationships with the outside world.

Course unit content

Aspects of LIS linguistics, notes on Deaf culture and the history of Deaf Institutions will be explored in depth. Furthermore, interpretative and translation aspects from and towards Sign Language, intramorphism and emotional aspects of interpretation will be developed.

Assessment methods and criteria

theoretical interview in Italian and conversation in Italian Sign Language LIS.
The overall rating is described as follows:

– insufficiency is determined by the lack of knowledge of the minimum contents of the teaching, as well as by the lack of adequate specialist vocabulary and resolution of the exercises possibly proposed, and by the lack of independent judgement, analysis, argumentation and communication of the contents;

– grades 18–23/30 describe an acceptable level of student performance of the assessment indicators;

– scores 24–25/30 describe a more than sufficient performance;

– scores 26–27/30 describe a good performance;

– grades 28–30/30 describe an excellent performance and 30/30 with honors an excellent one.
