Characteristics of the final examination
The final examination for the second-cycle degree consists of a major design or analysis activity in the field of Electronic Engineering, agreed upon with a professor/instructor, within one of the envisaged course units or other training activities and developed by the student with a significant personal contribution, followed by the drafting of a written report and its discussion before a special committee set up in accordance with the course regulations.
The activity discussed in the final examination may be carried out in industrial laboratories or in domestic and foreign research institutes.
In the final examination, the candidate must demonstrate mastery of the topics, the ability to work independently and adequate communication skills.
The final grade is out of 110.
Procedure for the final examination
The Final Examination for the awarding of the Second-Cycle Degree consists of the presentation and discussion, before a committee of five professors, of a Dissertation characterised by innovative research or development contributions, which the students have developed in an original manner under the guidance of a Supervisor.
The dissertation can be of a theoretical, experimental or design-based nature and may also be written in English.
The procedures for the final examination are described in the Course Regulations in Articles 7, 8 and 9 (see links).
The mark awarded for the final examination varies from a minimum of 0/110 to a maximum of 7/110. The degree grade is out of 110 and rounded to the nearest whole number. It is determined by the sum of the mark for the final examination and the weighted average of the marks obtained for the course unit examinations. If this total exceeds 110/110, the committee may, by unanimous decision, award honours.
