Why in Parma?
This new interdepartmental course in Psychological Sciences and Techniques for Contemporary Challenges is an innovative project that addresses complex contemporary challenges through a multidisciplinary approach where the multiple perspectives found in the Departments of Medicine and Surgery, Humanities, Social Sciences and Cultural Enterprises and Economics and Business Sciences are integrated in a synergic manner.
The course has many innovative and distinctive elements such as:
- integration of psychobiological, cognitive, evolutionary, socio-relational, organisational and clinical-dynamic perspectives;
- orientation towards contemporary challenges, including the environment, sustainability, resilience, conscious use of technologies, interculturality, school and career guidance, inclusion, gender issues, consistently with the Agenda 2030 objectives;
- promotion of skills required of the psychologist in multi-professional teams;
- participatory and collaborative learning paths and face-to-face interaction with teachers.

After graduation
After graduation and internship, subject to passing the State Examination, graduates can enrol on the B Register of Psychologists and work as a Doctor of Psychological Techniques in social and work contexts as well as in personal and community services, supervised by a psychologist, either autonomously or in multidisciplinary teams. For instance it will be possible to apply protocols for career guidance, training needs analysis, selection and valorisation of human resources, carry out prevention and training or implement interventions for the rehabilitation, functional re-education and social integration of persons with disabilities, neuropsychological deficits, psychiatric disorders or substance addictions.
The three-year degree is required for entry into a master's degree course for the profession of psychologist, such as one of the two degree courses (LM-51) activated at our university - Psychology of Clinical and Social Intervention and Psychobiology and Cognitive Neuroscience - or any of the courses offered by universities in Italy.
