Why in Parma?
The degree course aims to train a professional who, while integrating the ability to work with the users of social services, can have functions of planning, organisation, management of social and health services, direct work groups, and coordinate the services and staff . The training will focus on the skills of analysing current social change, the ability to compare the levels of local, national and international social policies and services, and methodological skills, i.e. skills in the field of social analysis, planning, social service techniques to be adopted in complex situations (network, group, collective dimensions), with particular regard to family, intergenerational and territorial policies, which appear to be fundamental in tackling the dynamics of social change. The course involves theoretical-practical teaching experiments and maintains fruitful relations with local authorities and institutions.
The course of studies is within the Department of Law, Political and International Studies - selected by the MUR (Ministry of University and Research) among the Departments of Excellence for the five-year period 2023-2027.
After graduation
The main professional prospects relate to the area of welfare, personal services and the Third Sector. Graduates with a degree in Planning and Management of Social Services will develop knowledge and skills in the design, evaluation and management of social policies and services.
Graduates in the LM-87 class can access the qualifying examination for enrolment in the Register of Specialist Social Workers (section A); graduates in the L-39 class can also access the qualifying examination for enrolment in the B Register of Social Workers.
