Average calculation
The marks average communicated to the Degree Committee is the weighted average of the marks obtained in all exams that have been graded in thirtieths, including also the student's free-choice course units.
The procedure for calculating the weighted average is the following one: multiply the grade of each exams by the number of ECTS credits of that examination; add the results of the multiplications; divide by the number of ECTS credits.
"Thirty cum laude" does not add marks to the grade (30).
The weighted average thus obtained is converted into hundredths by multiplying the weighted average in thirtieths by 11 and then dividing it by 3.
The Degree Committee, evaluating the candidate's university curriculum and the result of the final examination, may add up to eight points to the grade resulting from the weighted average.
