Learning objectives
The transversal and interdisciplinary course aims to:
(a) Discuss the phenomenon of gender-based violence and violence against people in general, in its various manifestations, to Students enrolled in various degree courses.
(b) Raise Students' awareness on contrasting and preventing gender-based violence.
(c) Describe the integrated protocols for welcoming and taking care of people who have experienced violence, with reference to the activities and responsibilities of the multidisciplinary team and of the individual operator, foreseen in the individual phases.
Prerequisites
No prerequisite is required.
Course unit content
Vastness of the phenomenon, classification of the various forms of violence.
Regional, national legislation and the guidelines of the World Health Organization.
Risk situations and sentinel events.
The effects of violence on people's psychophysical health and social implications.
Recognize the signs of violence against people, with particular reference to women: from early screening to the prevention of feminicide.
Rape drugs: how to protect yourself.
Intimate partner violence (IPV) and associated factors.
Violence in pregnancy.
"Culturally sensitive" management of the woman who has experienced violence: variations based on the origin of the woman, in order to respect cultural specificities (e.g. immigrant woman).
Victims of witnessing violence.
The LDV Centers: services for male perpetrators of violence.
Violence against LGBT people.
Legal protection.
The structuring of the anti-violence network and the various professionals involved.
