Learning objectives

the student will be able to find or form translation equivalents from Italian to LIS and vice versa.
During the course, according to the Dublin descriptors, you learn to
– find semantic correspondences between the two languages;
– carry out simple translation exercises between languages;
– independently analyze the texts of the two languages;
– explain specialist terminology with clarity of expression;
– be able to contrastively apply theoretical and practical knowledge in the study of sign language.

Prerequisites

knowledge of LIS level A2

Course unit content

This teaching module explores the richness of specialized languages in Italian and Italian Sign Language, with a focus on translation problems between languages and meaning formation techniques.

Assessment methods and criteria

the student will produce a translation in sign language and Italian that contains specialist and sectoral vocabulary.
The overall rating is described as follows:

– insufficiency is determined by the lack of knowledge of the minimum contents of the teaching, as well as by the lack of adequate specialist vocabulary and resolution of the exercises possibly proposed, and by the lack of independent judgement, analysis, argumentation and communication of the contents;

– grades 18–23/30 describe an acceptable level of student performance of the assessment indicators;

– scores 24–25/30 describe a more than sufficient performance;

– scores 26–27/30 describe a good performance;

– grades 28–30/30 describe an excellent performance and 30/30 with honors an excellent one.
